Favorite time of year.

Just when I was so annoyed with the winter weather and didn't think I could take anymore...

it surprises me and ends up being a gorgeous "warmer" day.

But to be honest, my favorite time of year is fall.

Sundays

For about the last month I have been going to my friend Paula's house (on Sunday's) to eat dinner with her, her husband (Ronnie) and their 1 year old (Ian).

Last week I decided to bring over something instead of having her cook! I made some garlic chicken pasta! --Very simple and has great flavor!

This week Paula is making Pork Chops.--So, I'm one step ahead and trying to find the perfect recipe for dinner the next time it is my turn.

Her husband doesn't generally like chicken (which I couldn't believe!-haha) so I'm really having to search for something good. Any suggestions? I totally thought chicken was an American staple!

Roommates

>> Thursday, February 25, 2010

See I have this roommate. And I met her my first year at UNC Charlotte in 2004. We lived together on the same floor. Things were great and we became fast friends.

Fast forward to 2008. I'm looking for some new roommates -she has an apartment alone, but would really like to save money living with a roommate. So, we decide to live together.

For the last year things have gone totally downhill. We have some disagreements on how the apartment should be maintained.

Generally when I'm "asked" to help out I'll generally oblige. But really, I'm not a 2 year old. (I'm thinking someone needs to remind my roommate of this.) I'm not as inclined to help out as much when someone chooses to pick apart everything that I do. I didn't vacuum the living room to her standards. Or I didn't load the dishwasher the appropriate way.

I me really, call me crazy but --I DON'T DO THESE THINGS ON PURPOSE. I've been loading the dishwasher or vacuuming for years. Let's be realistic here, there's really not too much background knowledge required to complete these simple tasks--why such high standards?--I may never understand.

AND

garlic brushed italian bread.

-by themselves they are just "okay"-
but together, oh so good.

My dearest Perez

Perez Hilton, he is quite a character. But, despite his ability to point out the "flaws" associated with people. He's very funny. Now, my roommate thinks I am very ridiculous for getting my "updates" from such a source. She feels that I should be listening to a more legitimate source--but to be honest, I just can't help it!!

ps, I'm still on the lookout for someone who wants to help contribute to "A year of mornings."
Let me know if you're interested---in the meantime, I'll leave you with a glimpse of "My Morning."

Work

I am really loving my job! It's amazing how things worked out for the best! To be honest, I don't even know how I began on the Special Education track in college. But, I am really glad that I did!

My students are the best and I enjoy being with them everyday! Our program keeps growing. It's even better because I love the teacher that I "team" teach with! She teaches English and writing...and I teach math and science. It really works well and I'm glad that she and I have become great friends.

My work provides me with some sort of normalcy.

Few Things

Super excited! Yesterday, my friend Jill called me to ask about my favorite colors. --In my head I was thinking (why?). Ultimately no big deal, I've done the same thing to her! Well, I go over to her house and we just watched tv most of the day. Then all of a sudden her boyfriend comes home with some roses for BOTH of us for Valentine's Day!--That's why she wanted to know my favorite colors! It was super sweet of him and made my day! Because at this point Valentine's is only considered "Singles Awareness Day"--generally a total bummer.

On another note, super excited because my friend Chantal and I have decided to live together! My current roommate and I will be separating in May when she graduates from Law School (she'll be moving back home to NY). Chantal and I are a good match as roommates! We get along really well and we lived together last summer while Kerry was at home. So, Chantal and I are on the prowl for some super cute apartments in the area!

"You know how when you were a little kid and you believed in fairy tales, that fantasy of what your life would be, white dress, prince charming who would carry you away to a castle on a hill. You would lie in bed at night and close your eyes and you had complete and utter faith. Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy, Prince Charming, they were so close you could taste them, but eventually you grow up, one day you open your eyes and the fairy tale disappears. Most people turn to the things and people they can trust. But the thing is its hard to let go of that fairy tale entirely cause almost everyone has that smallest bit of hope, of faith, that one day they will open their eyes and it will come true."

I haven't forgotton my fairy tale.
