Love this fabric!

A few weeks ago I discovered Hancock Fabrics--let me tell you, I spent about 2 hours in there the first time I went!! Well when I went in earlier this week, my mission was to find fabric for part two of making a wristlet (because my first wristlet did not go as planned.) Well it took me quite a while to narrow down the perfect fabric..but it was worth the time because this is what I found!

I really think this fabric was meant for curtains..but it was really the only one that stood out.

....and here is my new wristlet
I do feel confident that it looks better than the last...
...but it's still not where I want it to be...

This was my first experience with using a stiffener (ya know to give it more durability?) and I think that had a lot to do with it!

Double Post

Here is the newest accessory for my bathroom! The apartment that I live in does not have a lot of space to hang things. So I went to Hobby Lobby and got this piece on sale!

It began very plain...

...and the idea was to paint it white with navy details
(to match the decor in my room)...

...but as you can see, that's not how the finished product looks!
I kept messing up (it is not easy to cover navy paint with white paint)...
so ultimately I just decided to mix the two colors together and this is what I ended with...

Daily Reminder.

So while at work today--we (meaning the family I work for and I) were sitting at the table for dinner and the Dad (Ken) out of nowhere says..

Ken: "So Theresa, did you know that out of a list of 40 cities Charlotte is rated about 30 as the most "single" city in the US?"

Me: "Oh wow, thanks for that information--(in my sarcastic voice) I really needed to know that, it was really on the top of my list."

Geez, and here I am working my hardest to make it on my own and stay in Charlotte!
So, on my way home from work it really overwhelmed me that I am still single and alone.--Ok, I'm not alone alone..but I'm husbandless which for me equals alone.

Lately I have had to remind myself to be patient..it's not my timing for when I'll find a job..it's not my timing for when I'll find a husband. It is in His timing..and sometimes I have trouble believing this is true. I want it to be on MY timing and the way I want it..all about me, myself and I. But lately, reminding myself to wait for God and trust in him has truly brought me comfort.

She (Jillian) chose Ed! --I know, I know..I chose Kiptyn from the beginning. But, with the recent events of the show, I decided to make Ed my final choice (because yet again, Jillian is asking Theresa Zimmerman for advice..ha).

Rita's (In Matthews)

My new favorite place to get dessert is at Rita's! (I'm sure they have it everywhere else but, I go to the one in Matthews at Galleria!) They have the greatest water ice. I started with the normal lemon flavor--but when I went the other day they did not have it so I switched to Mango--and WOW, I switched my favorite flavor so fast!!

I went today while at work and got a Gelati (mango and vanilla custard)--it was the perfect summer treat!

Show us your life..Wedding Dresses!

Kelly at Kelly's Korner, is hosting another "show us" day. Today has been Wedding Dress Day!! So excited for this! No, I have not gotten married, but I do have hopes and dreams for some of the things that I would like for my wedding to be! So here is one dress that I found that I absolutely love!

Recycled Puzzle.

So, the little girl I babysit LOVES puzzles. Along with her love of puzzles comes the destruction of puzzles. By destruction I mean she pulls the top layer off of the puzzle. Well her Mom asked me if I wanted her old puzzle. I thought sure (not really knowing what I was going to do with it.) Well, three hours after I got home this is what I came up with!

And since the camera on my phone really stinks...the background color is blue and the puzzle pieces are painted green and then the letters are painted with orange. (Yes, a random array of colors that don't necessarily go together--but I must admit they were all I had. Next time I'll prepare before I paint!)

Another one.

So, my friend Jill just moved into a new apartment (completely jealous it is soooo cute!) and she really wanted a plastic bag holder (ya know the one where you stuff all of the plastic bags from the store?) Well since I have a handy dandy sewing machine I decided to make her one! Actually I made two, but the first one DID NOT look good, so I'm keeping it in my apt.

I hate that all of these recent pictures look so dark..the battery to my camera has died and I cannot find the charger. I have resorted to taking pictures with my phone.

Accessory for the coffee table.

My coffee table is cluttered with a ton of junk. It is right there when you walk into my apartment. Remotes, keys, magazines-they all land on the coffee table. So, I was walking through Wal-Mart the other day and saw this really cute tray. It was plain wood with no color. I was feeling crafty (as I have all summer!) so I decided to paint it blue and add some kind of accent to it. This is what I ended up with:

I used a stencil for the swirly flowers.

On the coffee table!
The swirly flowers on the outside were fairly easy. When I moved to the ones on the inside is where I had problems. The stencil leaked through and the black paint was splotchy. So it took me about 4 coats of blue to cover up the black so I could start over. In the end I'm pretty excited about it!

Incredibly Overwhelmed.

Finding a job has completely overwhelmed me. This uncertainty has really upset me. I like to have control, but when it comes to this--I struggle everyday.

I want to stay in Charlotte, it's where I have made my life as an adult for the last 5 years--I am not ready to leave.


Lately I find that I have to remind myself that God is in control. I don't look to Him as regularly as I should. One verse that has been helpful to me and puts my mind at ease is this:
For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11
